Musically speaking, 2015 has been a pretty big year. A lot of incredible new albums, a fair amount of disappointments too. Honestly, 2015 looks like it might go down as one of the best years in music, if not on par with years like 1967 and 1994, then at least willing to give them a run for their money.

But what will 2015’s specific legacy be? It could be the year of spontaneous releases, with artists either announcing albums a week before release or surprising fans with completely unannounced drops. Perhaps 2015 will go down as a landmark year in hip-hop, with fantastic albums like To Pimp a Butterfly, Tetsuo & Youth and I Don’t Like Shit, I Don’t Go Outside.

Or maybe it’ll be the year of reunions. The Pop Group gave us their first album in 35 years and it was fantastic. The Sonics dropped their first album in 50 years and it sounded fresh as ever. And more recently Refused announced a new album after ending their landmark release The Shape of Punk to Come with the track “Refused are Fucking Dead” seventeen years ago.

With all that plus new albums by acts like Faith No More and Blur it’s going to be hard for any more bands reuniting to gain notice. Fortunately 90s alt rockers Third Eye Blind have changed the game once again and surprised fans with the release of a new single, “Everything is Easy.” In a time where bands are coming back from long hiatuses strong as ever, Third Eye Blind have made the courageous move to be just as terrible as we all knew they could be. We’ll see if it pays off when their new album, Dopamine, is released in June.
