Following the fantastic double album, The House of Gold & Bones, Stone Sour really shot up in my expectations. Prior to that release I saw them as a good, but at times generic, radio rock band. Now that they’ve proved they’re capable of so much more, I expect a lot more from them. But the firing of guitarist Jim Root, and some of the statements he’s made about the band since, has me somewhat anxious about their next full length release. Of course with frontman Corey Taylor focusing on Slipknot, that’s likely to be quite far away. But to tide fans over until then, they’ve released an EP of covers.
