I wasn’t sure what to expect in the leadup for a new Trivium album. On one hand, their most recent release was the dreadful Vengeance Falls. On the other, they’ve followed up a bad album with their best before, when the excellent Shogun followed up The Crusade. Then we learnt that the album would be returning to the sound of Shogun and featured material originally written for that album. But then we heard the lead single. And the single after that. And the one after that. After those tracks any excitement I had for this album was completely gone.
